Objective: To offer support to those in need outside the
parish, in response to Christ's command and as an expression of
God's love.
Your contributions to the Outreach Ministry provide immediate and
ongoing support for charitable needs in Los Alamos and elsewhere.
We provide direct donations of money, food and household items,
and coordinate various parish outreach activities. Through this
ministry TOTH has a significant impact worldwide for improving people's
lives and helping them in times of trouble. Our bulletin board near
the Church office shows some of the many charities that we support.
Outreach Budget
Outreach's initial 2004 budget was $11,174 but, along with other
ministry budgets, was reduced in June by the Vestry, to $10,446.
In addition to this, we had $519 from 2003 (a voided check and a
misclassified gift). We adjusted our plan to expend the budget approximately
equally among local, regional, national, and international needs
due to unprecedented hurricane disasters in Florida and humanitarian
response to terrorism in Russia. Major distributions from the Outreach
budget (see also non-budget funds) are listed below. Outreach has
been allocated $10,000 for its 2005 budget.
Activities:
- Distribute parish Outreach funds to appropriate charities and
individuals outside the parish internationally, nationally, regionally
and locally.
- Respond to emergencies, locally and beyond.
- Keep the congregation informed about need and projects of the
Ministry so that all parishioners, including children, will have
an opportunity to serve.
- Oversee Thanksgiving and Christmas basket offering project,
Adopt-a-Family project, United Thank Offerings and Episcopal Renewal
and Development offerings, and any other such projects in which
the Ministry chooses to participate.
- Coordinate ecumenical activities with other local churches and
agencies, such as Interfaith Recovery Network and Self help.
