In 1916, the author Lily Hardy Hammon wrote, “You don’t pay love back. You pay it forward.” That captures, in a sense, what it means to be a steward of the gifts God has given to us. God doesn’t need our money or our time. But, God does call us to find ways to use our time, talents, and treasure to help all our fellow human beings. God’s love was so abundantly given to us in the person and work of Jesus of Nazareth, and we are invited to respond to God’s love and join with God in building up the Kingdom right here in our midst. As we near the close of our stewardship season, I invite you to be in fervent prayer about how God is calling you to ‘pay it forward’ in generosity. And remember, bring your pledge card this Sunday, November 20th, for our Consecration Sunday!
