Our Mission

The mission of Trinity on the Hill is to share the power and joy of God’s love, to fully embrace all God’s children, and to respond to the needs of our community and the world in the spirit of Jesus Christ.

Our Core Values

Worship: In our shared worship in the Episcopal tradition, we experience the power and joy of God’s love.

Community of Faith: In our church community, we welcome newcomers into our midst, where we appreciate, support, and nurture one another.

Outreach: In our connection with the world, we reach out with God’s love and message of hope, responding to the needs of others.

_____

In the Fall of 2017, members of the congregation began working with the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) to discern where we felt God was calling us as a congregation. We began this work with a retreat led by Jeannette McDonald, a Strategic Consultant with ECF. We spent time in prayer, conversation, laughter, and brainstorming as we listened to the voice of God’s Spirit.

Soon after that retreat, the congregation was invited to share its thoughts about Trinity on the Hill. Nearly 75% of the congregation (quite a substantial number) participated in moderated Listening Sessions. Whether the opinions were glowing or somewhat critical, we listened prayerfully with the desire that our discernment and visioning be guided by the members of the congregation, not just a small group of individuals.

From these listening sessions, we began to notice patterns emerging. Ranging from what the congregation overwhelmingly identified as most life-giving to what they identified as needing work, these responses shaped what came to be known as our Core Values.

We held another retreat in February of 2018, and at this retreat, we began to prayerfully discern what goals and strategies we would implement in our mission and ministry moving forward. Finally, in August, the Vestry adopted the Core Value, Goals, and Strategies as identified by the Discernment Committee.

The Mission and Core Values listed above represent over 100 hours of prayer and discernment, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be moving into the future to which we believe God has called us.

We invite you to join us in this mission!
