Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

A plate of pancakes with syrup and fruit on top.

Join us on Tuesday, February 17th from 5:30-7:00 PM, as we feast one last time before Lent begins.


The meal is free.

Attendees are encouraged to bring cans of food for LA Cares or personal hygiene items for unhoused individuals.

Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, has become the traditional day for the consumption of fats, eggs and meat, all in anticipation of the 40 days of Lent, a time of self-discipline and self-denial.

The word “shrive” is derived from shriving, a team that means confessing. A person who is shriven is forgiven of his sins. Shrove Tuesday also is referred to as Carnival, which means the removal of meat.
